Bhūmi takes its name from the Sanskrit word for earth — the grounding energy beneath everything we do. Since 2017 we have built a home for mindful movement across Malaysia and Singapore, guided by a single conviction: that wellbeing is not a peak to chase but a system to maintain, resilient and capable across every stage of life.
Founders Ashley Chong Lilei and Aeryn Chong discovered their passion for fitness young, and began teaching as far back as their university days. What started as a side income became something they couldn't put down. They moved into other industries after graduating, yet kept showing up at international fitness-education conferences, drawn back again and again.
In 2017, a setback became a turning point — the spark to go all in on their first love. The opportunity arrived when they connected with LIXIN Pilates in China. The rest is the studio you know today.
But Bhūmi was really born from a personal journey of transformation. It was through a challenging chapter that movement became more than exercise — and a realisation took hold that would reshape everything: so many people live disconnected from their bodies, carrying pain, stress, fatigue, poor posture, and lost vitality without ever understanding the root cause. We built Bhūmi to change that — to bridge science, movement, and nervous system awareness into something people can actually live by.
Eventually in 2017, a fallback sparked their passion to go big. They got in touch with LIXIN Pilates — and the rest is history.
Our first studio opens on 5 July in the heart of KL, and Bhūmi becomes the exclusive partner of LIXIN Pilates in South East Asia — a method integrating Pilates, Chinese meridian knowledge, and sports science.
On 29 November we cross the causeway. A cozy, community-focused studio beside a serene pond brings Bhūmi to Singapore.
Opening on 25 August, our Bangsar studio becomes a serene haven for Circuit Pilates group classes and private sessions in a chic, considered setting.
On 16 December we open our most ambitious home yet: 6,000+ square feet built for what comes next. Dedicated reformer, chair and barrel, and gym rooms; private studios; infrared sauna rooms; a spacious lounge and coffee corner. A studio designed not only for Pilates, but for brain-led training and a functional-lab environment.
A community spanning children, students, working adults, and retirees — each bringing their own energy and goals.
Clients describe our studios as calming and peaceful — a warm, inviting space to fully immerse and focus.
Rooted in sustainability and purpose, Bhūmi now extends its philosophy toward cultivating timeless strength and longevity. Through mindful movement, intelligent training, and restorative practice, we help people build resilience that endures — nurturing not only the wellness of body and mind, but a vitality that lasts.
Our greater purpose is simple and stubborn: to help people achieve lifelong vitality and reverse unnecessary decline — physically, mentally, and emotionally. We want to shift wellness from managing symptoms to understanding root causes, building a healthier next generation that knows its own body and nervous system long before problems become chronic.
We always look deeper rather than masking a problem temporarily.
Growth, curiosity, and continuous education are built into how we work.
Meticulous technical understanding, held together with compassion and human connection.
We do the right thing whether or not anyone is there to see it.
True health includes the body, the brain, the emotions, the lifestyle, and the community around it.
What we became, and why — the method behind the evolution.
